About US

Acorn and Clover was set up in 2019. Initially I was sewing personalised towels and jumpers with Liberty of London fabric from home. My sewing room was a small walk in wardrobe upstairs. Then covid hit and it just wasn't viable with home schooling.
My children were spending lots of time outside in the paddling pool and I hated the poncho robes they had. Hooded ponchos just didn't work for me or my girls with the small neck holes and the drafty sleeves. I had identified a need in the market for better-designed robes for children and took it upon myself to create a solution. I found the kimono sleeve to be the best design to enable children to change underneath them. It took over 10 prototypes but I finally got there.
Navigating through various manufacturing challenges over the past 5 years, from quality issues in Turkey to communication barriers in China, was quite the learning experience. Luckily, I found a sustainable solution with Bamboo Belgium in Portugal. Their commitment to sustainability aligns well with my ethos, and it's wonderful to see businesses collaborating towards eco-friendly practices.
Bamboo Belgium (www.bamboobelgium.be) is a sustainable business. Bamboo clothing is biodegradable and all fabric is coloured with organic dyes.
